Cong,BJP slug it out on live TV
Raipur: Supporters of PWD Minister Brijmohan Agarwal had a scuffle with Congress workers Wednesday during a live show being aired on a news channel. Agarwal,who contests from Raipur South,was part of a panel with his opponent,Raipur Mayor and Congress candidate Kiranmayee Nayak. During the show,Agarwal asked Nayak to check her language. Subsequently,his men halted the programme and allegedly assaulted her and her supporters,leaving several injured. Agarwal alleged Nayak had used an unparliamentary term to describe ministers in CM Raman Singhs cabinet. But Nayak claimed she only called them nikamma useless as most of them are not seen in public.
Not annoyed with Chouhan,says Uma
Bhopal: BJP vice-president Uma Bharti Thursday said she fully backed Madhya Pradesh CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan and there were no differences between them over distribution of tickets for the upcoming Assembly elections. I am fully supporting Chouhan and there is no truth in media reports about my being angry or annoyed with Chouhan, she said.
Several MNF office bearers join Cong
Aizawl: Unhappy over the Mizo National Fronts MNF alliance with the Mizoram Peoples Conference for the upcoming Assembly elections,several office bearers of the MNF,including a former MLA and several general secretaries and advisers,resigned from the party on Thursday to join the Congress. The exodus comes a week after three MNF general secretaries moved to the Congress citing their disillusionment with the party.
Govt officials on poll duty cant feign illness
Bhopal: Feigning illness to avoid election duty may land government employees in trouble. They will be subjected to a detailed check-up by the medical board and a certificate will be issued regarding their fitness,the Bhopal district returning officer has said in an order. The certificate will clearly spell out whether the employee or official concerned is fit or unfit for government service. ENS amp; PTI
