CoBRA man,6 Maoists killed in encounter

At least six Maoists and one CoBRA personnel were killed in an encounter in Jharkhand on Thursday.

The dead CoBRA personnel was identified as Satya Prakash Jaiswal.

A constable of the states Jaguar force Sanjay Paswan,who had received bullet injury in his left hand,was admitted at Apollo hospital in the state capital.

His condition is stable, said hospitals Superintendent P D Singh.

On a tip-off,the security forces had rushed to Latehar districts Karamdih village located in the forest along the Jharkhand-Chhattisgarh border. As they started combing the area,the rebels fired at them. This led to an encounter which lasted for four hours between 10 am and 2pm.

Thousands of rounds of fire were exchanged, said Latehar Superintendent of Police Kranthi Kumar,who was present at the site.

After the Maoists fled,the security forces scanned the area and noticed blood on the soil.

Though none of the bodies of the Maoists were recovered,Kumar said,Security personnel had seen the Maoists fleeing with six-seven bodies.
