The CBI has recorded statements of two former ministers of state about alleged irregularities in the allocation of coal blocks, sources said Monday.
Santosh Bagrodia and Dasari Narayan Rao,who were junior ministers in the coal ministry between 2006 and 2009,were questioned about a month ago. Both have denied involvement in the scam.
The CBI has registered 11 FIRs in the case so far. One of them is against AMR Iron and Steel and lists Congress MP Vijay Darda’s son as an accused.
The CBI has alleged that “representatives of AMR Iron and Steel attended a meeting on September 18,2008 with the minister of state for coal in his chamber wherein it claimed it was not part of Jayaswal group and that its equity was held by Lokmat group,Abhijeet Infrastructure Limited and IL and FS”.
The firm has admitted, the CBI said, that it was allocated five coal blocks at that meeting which took place before it filed an application for coal blocks.
