CIC: Give info on convicts pleas

The Central Information Commission has directed the Union Home Ministry to furnish within a week details of correspondence and file notings regarding mercy pleas.

The Central Information Commission has directed the Union Home Ministry to furnish within a week details of correspondence and file notings regarding mercy pleas of the three men sentenced to death for Rajiv Gandhis killing. The CIC,however,said the Home Ministers advice to the President on the petitions did not come under the RTI Act. The CIC passed the order on a RTI plea filed on August 20.
