Security forces have recovered a Chinese-made sophisticated weapon from an alleged militant of the banned outfit United Liberation Front of Asom ULFA who was killed in an encounter on Thursday in Tinsukia district of Assam.
Officials said this substantiated their claim that Paresh Baruah,the head of ULFAs anti-talk faction,who is absconding,is getting help in procuring arms and ammunition from China.
A joint team of police and the CRPF gunned down Diganta Bora 26 in Tarani forest area of Tinsukia district. Among the weapons seized from him was an AK-81 rifle,primarily used by Chinas Peoples Liberation Army. The AK-81 rifle8230;cannot be produced in a crude manner in a neighbourhood factory. It ought to have been from some ordnance factory, an officer said. During our joint raid,the ULFA cadres fired upon the search team. One of them was killed in retaliation, he added.
