China's state-run mobile telecom company 'China Mobile' has invested USD 1.5 billion in Pakistan in the last four years and remitted USD 286 million in tax revenues. CEO of CMPak,China Mobile's wholly owned subsidiary in Pakistan,Fan Yunjun said that CMPak has made a cumulative investment of USD 1.5 billion in Pakistan in four years and has deposited USD 289 million as taxes during the same period. Fan made the statement while calling on Pakistani Premier Yousuf Raza Gilani yesterday and presented him a cheque of one million rupees (USD 11,000) for the Flood Relief Fund of the Prime Minister,state-run Xinhua news agency reported. Fan said 'China Mobile' was the largest telecom service provider worldwide,and added that CMPak was keen to invest in 3-G technology. He said that CMPak wants to extend its operations to new heights which would provide job opportunities to youth in various fields benefiting from its future projects. Gilani said that Pakistan and China enjoyed time-tested friendship and the year of 2011 was declared as the year of Pakistan-China friendship to celebrate the 60 years of establishment of diplomatic relations between them. He appreciated the services of CMPak which had reached the figure of 13.2 million subscribers and had contributed an amount of 26 billion rupees (USD 289 million) in the national exchequer over a period of four years as taxes besides providing thousands of job opportunities in Pakistan. Gilani also directed Information Ministry Secretary to help CMPak in resolving difficulties in the implementation of their extension projects,the report said.
