Screen awards are around the corner.
It is that time of the year again when palpitation,tension and apprehension become a part of life,for almost four months at a stretch. Also,being the festive season,with Christmas and New Year celebrations along the way,there is so much happening to keep one on his toes. The Screen office is buzzing with activity because it is time for one more Screen awards and the busiest time of the year for us. This time the event is early,on January 6. So it is celebrations galore. All of us are in a festive mood. Besides talking about delicacies,decorations and participation of the celebrities,dressing up for all these events too are a part of the process and is a part of the discussions,mainly among the ladies in the office.
Screen awards are 17 years young. I have been a part of the awards since their inception in 1995 and have been witness to so many celebrations as well as disappointments. I have seen the Golden Lady the Screen trophy adorning the living rooms of the proud winners.
Over the years,the Screen awards have gained immense credibility and the ceremony is an event that is looked forward to by the film industry. And since it is the first award ceremony of the year,there is immense curiosity and apprehension amongst the fraternity.
As for us,it is a year-long process that finally culminates in the awards. The final selection of the winners is a task that is handled by a jury of eminent personalities of the film industry who are unbiased in the selection. Only the best work during the year stands a chance to take the Golden Lady the Screen trophy home. The jury has been working overtime to come up with the best of the best and they are on a high when the winner holds the prestigious trophy in his or her hands.
We,the staff,are happy to see our guests gracing the occasion with their spouses or friends after inviting them to attend the event. And the cheerful faces of the winners are worth watching.
For us at Screen,it is also a culmination of very hard work when we leave the venue and go to the party to celebrate the event,only to be back to the office the next day to bring out the special issue loaded with pictures of winners and the event.
Then begins another year-long wait till the next awards.
