Canara Bank opens second branch in Britain

Bangalore-based Canara Bank said it has opened its second branch in the UK.

Bangalore-based Canara Bank said it has opened its second branch in the UK.

The CMD of Canara Bank A C Mahajan inaugurated the branch yesterday in Leicester in the presence of the mayor of the city and other top dignitaries,a statement issued by the bank said.

Initially,the branch would be accepting deposits,handle advances and maintain current accounts of individuals as well as firms and companies. It would also handle remittance business for remittances into India.

This is the fourth overseas branch of the bank,after London,Hong Kong and Shanghai in addition to a joint venture with State Bank of India in Moscow. The bank also manages two exchange companies in the Middle East.
