Col Russell Williams pleaded guilty to two counts of first-degree murder,two sexual assaults and 82 counts of breaking-and-entering,and taking hundreds of undergarments from women and girls. I stand before you indescribably ashamed, Williams said,his voice cracking.

Explosion on bus in Philippines kills 8

MANILA: A bomb ripped through a passenger bus with 50 on board on Thursday in the southern Philippines,killing at least eight people and wounding 10 in an attack authorities blamed on an extortion gang with links to Muslim militants. Military spokesman Lt Col Randolph Cabangbang said authorities suspect the Al-Khobar extortion gang in the attack,saying the bus company involved in the bombing had been targeted for extortion in the past.

MOSCOW: Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putins Chief of Staff was named the Mayor of Moscow on Thursday,replacing Yuri Luzhkov,who was fired by President Dmitry Medvedev last month. Sergei Sobyanin was approved by the city legislature in a near unanimous vote. Luzhkov made clear that he believes the reason behind his ouster was the Kremlins desire to have a more pliant mayor before next years parliamentary elections and the next presidential vote.

LONDON: A top al-Qaeda leader,one of the worlds most wanted men,rubbed shoulders with high-ranking US military officials at a luncheon at the Pentagon in the aftermath of 9/11,a Fox News report said on Thursday. Fox News claim to have acquired documents stating that Anwar al-Awlaki,the first American on the CIAs kill or capture list,was taken to US Department of Defences headquarters as part of the militarys outreach programme to the Muslim community.
