Butas son booked under Arms Act too

The CBI had raided Sarabjots house in Nizamuddin area of South East Delhi on Thursday evening and recovered three imported revolvers along with 38 live cartridges. Since the weapons were unlicensed,the agency intimidated Delhi Police about the recovery. Since the family was unable to produce the documents related to the weapons the police registered a case under Section 25 of Arms Act at Nizamuddin police station on Friday evening.

All these are prohibited weapons. Even the import of these is a very cumbersome process. We are trying to find out who gave him these weapons, said a senior officer.

Delhi Police officials said they would seek Sarabjots custody from the CBI in Mumbai to investigate about the guns. Meanwhile,asked about the revolvers,Buta Singh said,The licences are there. Only my son knows where they are. When he comes out of custody,he will produce them.

Asked whether there was any political pressure on the agency in connection with the case,the CBI chief replied in the negative. No,there is no political pressure. He also refuted reports that the agency has sent a report on this case to the Home Ministry. Absolutely not,he said in response to a question.

Meanwhile,a Buta Singh refused to resign from his post saying his son must have confessed under pressure. Resign? Why should I resign? Singh shot back at reporters on being asked whether he will step down after his son was arrested on the charge of demanding a bribe from a Nashik-based contractor for closing a case against him. I am chairperson of a constitutional forum. And I am capable,so why should I resign? he said. When told that his son had confessed to taking the bribe amount,Buta said,He must have naturally made it confession under pressure. With PTI
