Medal of Honour for marine who saved 36 lives

Washington: Former marine Dakota Meyer will be pinned with the US militarys highest award,Medal of Honour the first in the Afghan campaign for charging through heavy gunfire to save 36 soldiers. He was to be bestowed the honour by President Barack Obama on Thursday,and is the only living US soldier to receive the award for the war in Afghanistan.

Tribesman beheaded in Pakistan

Islamabad: Pro-Taliban militants beheaded a tribesman in Khyber region of Pakistan on charges of spying,according to Dawn on Thursday. Militants abducted Rahim Shah,a resident of Bara Qambarkhel,and later dumped his beheaded body in the mountains in the Tirah valley on Wednesday. A letter with the body alleged Shah was involved in spying on militants.

ISI trying to trace Shahbaz Taseer

Islamabad: Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah said on Thursday that the military-run ISI is conducting the operation to trace slain Punjab Governor Salman Taseers son Shahbaz,who was kidnapped over a fortnight ago. The Punjab police,Special Branch and CID are assisting the ISI, he was quoted as saying by The News daily.

COPENHAGEN: Separate exit polls by two Danish broadcasters show the left-leaning opposition winning Denmarks national election. Exit polls by TV2 and DR showed the red bloc led by the Social Democrats with a seven-seat advantage over the centre-right government bloc.

Bahrain man dies after inhaling tear gas

MANAMA: A 35-year-old man in Bahrain,Sayyed Jawad Ahmed,died on Wednesday allegedly after inhaling tear gas fired by security forces trying to disperse protesters,his brother said. Bahrains health ministry confirmed the death.

Scarlett Johansson says nude photos leaked

LOS ANGELES: The FBI was reportedly called in by Scarlett Johansson after nude photographs were stolen from her phone and leaked to websites,according to celebrity news website TMZ. An FBI spokesman declined to comment.
