Poland honours crash victims,vows never to forget

WARSAW: Poland paid an emotional tribute on Saturday to President Lech Kaczynski,his wife Maria and 94 senior officials killed in a plane crash a week ago in Russia. Up to 100,000 mourners,many clutching the national flag threaded with black ribbons,packed into the vast Pilsudski Square in Warsaw to commemorate the victims of the countrys most devastating accident since WWII. This is the most we can do for them. We are here to remember them. Poland is here to remember them. We will not forget, Prime Minister Donald Tusk,who had been a political rival of Kaczynskis.

N Korea denies sinking South ship

SEOUL: North Korea on Saturday denied involvement in the mysterious sinking of a South Korean war ship in waters disputed between the two Koreas. The denial came a day after South Korea blamed the sinking on an external explosion. On Saturday,North Korea issued its first official reaction to the March 26 sinking,accusing South Korea of fabricating the cause of the incident. They are using the media to attribute it to us, the Norths state-run news agency,KCNA,quoted a military official as saying.

Youths convicted of killing Indian doctor

London: A former British child model is among two youths found guilty of murdering an Indian-origin doctor and taking away his money to pay for a prostitute,with both convicts facing life imprisonment. Thomas Connor of Curismill Way in Kent and William Paton of Orpington,both of them 20,were convicted by a jury at the Old Bailey on Friday of murder and robbery of Nadim Gulamhuseinwala on July 25 last year at Green Park in Central London. The two men used the cash to pay for a prostitute,The Times reported.

Bomb blasts hit dam project in Myanmar

Yangon: A series of bomb blasts at the site of a controversial dam project in a remote part of Myanmar destroyed cars and buildings and injured one person on Saturday,an official said. The explosions took place at four locations where the Myitsone Dam is under construction in Kachin state,he said.
