Khurshid escort jeep in mishap

ETAH: Five people,including four policemen,were injured when the escort jeep of Union Minister Salman Khurshid collided with the bus of Adarsh Secondary School at Bagwala in Etah on Monday,officials said. The bus was empty at the time of accident.

Kota collapse: More experts called

KOTA: A team of experts from Indian Institute of Oceanography IIO will visit the site of the bridge collapse in Kota to assist in underwater rescue operations. Presently,rescue operation is being carried out on surface. Underwater rescue operation could not be successfully launched despite efforts by experts from Gujarat and Navy, IG Kota Rajeev Dasot said.

Explosion at firing range,1 killed

JAISALMER: One jawan was killed and two were injured in an explosion that took place while ammunition of the IAF was being unloaded from a truck at Chandan firing range,45 km from Jaisalmer in Rajasthan,Defence PRO Lt Col N N Josh said.

Jammu bandh fizzles out

Jammu: Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party-sponsored Jammu bandh against the recommendation of the Prime Ministers fifth working group on state-Centre relationship,headed by Justice Sagheer Ahmed,on Monday fizzled out with most of the city markets choosing to remain open and transport plying on the roads.

The one-day strike was organised by the JKNPP and supported by the Bar Association of Jammu,the Shiv Sena and Jammu State Morcha,besides several business establishments,but only a few markets witnessed partial bandh and the rest were open throughout the day.

Some Panthers Party workers tried to block the busy Tawi Bridge,but failed to do so when the police dispersed them. Nearly 100 party workers were picked up by the police. Later,the JKNPP took out protest rallies on vehicles and the party was found appealing to the general public to close down their business establishments. PTI
