UP college teachers go on mass leave
Lucknow: About 18,000 teachers of state universities and colleges across Uttar Pradesh went on mass casual leave on Monday. The university and degree college teachers are demanding arrears for the period between January 1,2006 to November 2008 after implementation of the sixth pay commission.
Engineering student falls to death
Jaipur: A student of a private engineering college fell to death while jumping from the second floor of a building to the roof of another at Shivdaspura,about 30 kms from here,police said on Monday. Mandeep 20 slipped and fell as he attempted to jump from the second floor of his hostel to the roof of a building just four feet away,they said.
2,500 posts to be filled in Punjab
Chandigarh: Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal on Monday gave the nod for filling up nearly 2,500 posts in the departments of Food and Supplies,Local Government and the Mandi Board. The decision was taken by Badal in separate meetings with ministers of these departments to finalise modalities of the recruitment process.
