Jats reiterate threat to disrupt CWG
CHANDIGARH: Though Hisar remained peaceful on Wednesday with no major incidents reported,there were a few violent incidents in other regions,with Jats protesters burning a bus in Narwana. The curfew imposed in Hisar on Tuesday had been lifted with CM Bhupinder Singh Hooda announcing a relief of Rs 10 lakh to the family of Sunil Lamba,who died in police firing on Monday. Members of the All India Jat Arakshan Sangharsh Samiti AIJASS,however,claimed their agitation would continue on the demand of reservation for Jats.
Early snowfall in Garhwal Himalayas
GOPESHWAR UTTARAKHAND: Nearly a month ahead of schedule,the higher reaches of Garhwal Himalayas on Wednesday received snowfall,sending the mercury plummeting in Chamoli and Rudraprayag districts. The hills around Badrinath and Kedarnath temples have received snowfall while lower areas received rainfall forcing the people to take out their woollens.
Two injured in cell phone explosion
KOTA RAJASTHAN: Two herdsmen suffered burn injuries after two mobile phones kept in one of their pockets exploded when lightning struck them while they were out in the fields,the police said here on Wednesday. Rajkumar Meena,18,and Ghanshyam Meena,25,were grazing their cattle in a field in Aatuan village when the phones,kept in their shirt pockets,exploded after lightning struck them. Both suffered from minor burn injuries.
