Dowry case: Chiru son-in-law surrenders

HYDERABAD: Sirish Bhardwaj,the son-in-law of actor-turned-politician Chiranjeevi,surrendered before a local court on Wednesday,after evading arrest for over four months in a dowry harassment case. Bhardwajs estranged wife Srija had accused him and her in-laws of harassing her for dowry. The Additional CMM sent Sirish to judicial custody till August 8. Earlier,the Supreme Court had rejected his anticipatory bail plea and advised him to surrender to the court and seek bail after the arrest.

UP: Cop dies,10 faint during physical test

AZAMGARH: A policeman died and 10 others fainted during a physical ability test for the post of sub-inspector on Wednesday,the third such incident in Uttar Pradesh this month. Eleven personnel fainted while participating in a 10 km run at police lines,SSP Bhagwan Swaroop said. The jawans were taken to the district hospital,where 37-year-old Ali Suzma died,the SSP said,adding three personnel have been referred to Varanasi in a serious condition.

Pancholi booked for misbehaviour

MUMBAI: The crew of a Jetlite flight to Goa on Tuesday filed a complaint with the CISF against actor Aditya Pancholi for misbehaviour,after they got into an argument with him following a prolonged flight delay. Pancholi was handed over to the Santacruz police station,where a non-cognisable offence was registered against him,a CISF officer said. Jet did not comment on the matter. Pancholi,however,was able to secure the refund on his ticket from the airline.

3 coaches of train derail in UP

ETAWAH: Three coaches of Lucknow-Shikohabad passenger train derailed near Sarai Bhupat station,causing delays on the Delhi-Howrah route on Wednesday. No one was hurt,officials said. The incident took place around 1am.
