KOLKATA: Maoist-backed Peoples Committee Against Police Atrocities PCAPA on Monday called for a bandh on August 26 in West Bengals Jungle Mahal belt comprising West Midnapore,Purulia and Bankura districts,to protest the alleged killing of their supporters by CPM men. PCAPA spokesperson Monoj Mahato said,Our supporters are getting killed by CPM goons,who are being helped by the Joint Forces.8221;

Army Chief V K Singh to visit Australia

NEW DELHI: Army Chief General V K Singh will embark on a four-day visit to Australia on Monday to strengthen bilateral military ties. This will be the first visit to the country by a serving Army chief in five years. Singh will have discussions with Ian Watt,Secretary of Defence and Air Chief Marshal Angus Houston,Chief of Defence Forces Australia besides his counterpart Lt Gen Ken Gillespie,Chief of Australian Army.

Missing explosives: Cops focus on Rajkot

RAJKOT: Investigations into how explosives dispatched from Rajasthan for Sagar in Madhya Pradesh went missing have led to Rajkot. The Madhya Pradesh police found that the draft for purchasing the explosives were sent by a Rajkot trader. A Madhya Pradesh police team on Monday locked a godown at Padsana owned by a Rajkot-based trader Harkishan Aswani. Nearly 61 trucks loaded with explosives worth Rs 1.3 crore destined to reach Ganesh Trading Company in Sagar had gone missing in transit.

Bihar non-gazetted employees strike

Accreditation for scribes to be eased

NEW DELHI: After having sorted out the accreditation process for foreign journalists covering India,the Information and Broadcasting Ministry is now examining ways to ease accreditation of journalists operating outside Delhi. Information and Broadcasting Minister Ambika Soni has constituted a committee to study the feasibility of granting accreditation to outstation journalists.
