Israeli jailed for using sat phone
DEHRADUN: Israeli Dori Ishtiyak,who was arrested on Saturday for using a satellite phone without permission,has been sent to jail after his guarantors from the Israeli Embassy failed to appear for his bail before the court of CJM Uttarkashi,the police said Sunday. Ishtiyak was arrested from Dodital in Uttarkashi after he was found using a satellite phone without required permits.
Hungry leopard lynched to death
BAHRAICH: A female leopard,which had strayed out in search of food,was lynched to death by villagers at Semri Ghatahi in Katarniaghat Wildlife Sanctuary,Divisional Forest Officer R K Singh said on Sunday. Villagers were angry as the leopard had injured a few cattle on Friday night, he said. A case had been lodged against three persons under the Wildlife Protection Act.
Supari to kill Raj: Ex-MLA gets bail
NASHIK: A court here on Sunday granted bail to former SP MLA Kishore Samrite from Langi in Maharashtra in a case filed against him for publicly announcing Rs 1 crore supari to anyone who killed MNS chief Raj Thackeray in 2008. MNS activist Rajesh Pandit had filed a complaint against Samrite. Following Pandit8217;s complaint,a Nashik court issued summons to Samrite. But as he did not appear before the court,an arrest warrant was issued against him. Samrite surrendered before police in MP after the court issued a notice to attach his properties.
Conman held for Rs 3 crore fraud
MUMBAI: Dilip Vyas,a resident of Dahisar area,has been arrested and remanded in police custody till March 3 for duping I-T department of Rs 3 crore by filing fake I-T returns and obtaining illegal refunds in the name of different PAN card holders,CBI Joint Director R R Singh said on Sunday. Three I-T officials Pramod Prabhakar,Rajesh Pillai,Raju Nagpure and TV artiste Manoj Sangtiyani have also come under scanner and were being questioned for their involvement in the fraud.
Six bar dancers,150 revellers held
KOLHAPUR: Police raided Hotel Vrishali Executive,while a party was going on there,Saturday night and arrested six bar dancers and 150 revellers,police said on Sunday. The party was hosted by a company which manufactures electric switches,they said.

Boy falls in gas plant tank,dies
ANOOPPUR: Two-and-a-half year old boy Rajan died after falling into a tank of a bio-gas plant at Pasla village in Madhya Pradeshs Anooppur district on Saturday evening,the police said Sunday. The boys family found his slippers near the tank and when they opened the lid,they found his body inside.
