Food inflation inches up toreach 10.86
New Delhi: After declining for two consecutive weeks,food inflation inched up marginally to 10.86 per cent for the week ended August 31 as prices of cereals,fruits and milk rose. Food inflation was 10.05 per cent in the previous week,while it was 14.86 per cent a year ago. The rise in food inflation has been driven by higher prices of cereals,milk and fruits. Prices of vegetables,especially onion and potato declined.
FIIs pump 2.5 bn in markets in August
New Delhi: Maintaining their bullish stance for the third month in a row,global fund houses made a net investment of Rs 11,685 crore 2.5 billion in Indian equities in August. As per the data available with capital market regulator Sebi,foreign institutional investors purchased shares worth Rs 62,187.50 crore while they offloaded equities worth Rs 50,500.40 crore during August,resulting in a net investment of Rs 11,687.50 crore.
Roy Choudhury takes over as NTPC CMD
NEW DELHI: Arup Roy Choudhury has taken over as NTPC CMD from September 1. A civil engineer from BITS with a post-graduation in management from IIT,Roy Choudhury started his career in 1979 and worked in prominent public and private sector companies such as RITES,IRCON and DLF. On joining NTPC,he said in a message to the employees,8221;I intend to work together with each one of you to take NTPC to greater heights to becoming the largest and best power producer in the World.8221;
Audi India sales up 46 in Aug
New Delhi: Luxury car-maker Audi India on Friday reported a 46.20 per cent jump in sales to 250 units in August. The company had sold 171 units in the corresponding month last year,Audi India said in a statement. During the January-August period,the companys sales soared by 66.31 per cent to 1,876 units from 1,128 units in the year-ago period,it added.
Coffee exports up 57 in Jan-Sept
New Delhi: Indias coffee export surged by 57 per cent in the first nine months of 2010 to 2.05 lakh tonnes on the back of increased demand from overseas market,according to Coffee Board data. The country had exported 1.30 lakh tonnes in the same period last year.
IBF names Star India CEO its President
New Delhi: The Indian Broadcasting Foundation IBF,the apex body of television channels,said on Friday that Star India CEO Uday Shankar has been appointed its President for the year 2010-11. Further,TV Today CEO and Executive Director G Krishnan has taken over as Vice-President of the umbrella body,IBF said in a statement.
