ONGC-Mittal exit Turkmenistan oil block
NEW DELHI: Oil and Natural Gas Corp ONGC and its partner steel baron Lakshmi N Mittal have exited an oil block in Turkmenistan after exploratory failure,leaving the once high profile joint venture with oil properties in just two countries. ONGC-Mittal Energy Ltd the joint venture of ONGC Videsh Ltd and Mittal Investment Sarl,had in October 2007 acquired 30 per cent interest in offshore block 11-12.
DoT may ban Mamp;As among 3G players
NEW DELHI: The government is unlikely to allow any merger or acquisitions among the third generation,or 3G,mobile service providers to ensure competition. There will be no merger and acquisition guidelines for 3G services as to ensure competition among the 3G operators. The NIA will prohibit merger of successful bidders in the current auction, the DoT said in an internal note,which is a compilation of its reply to the prospective 3G bidders
query on these issues.
Orient Express raises 138 mn from sale
NEW YORK: US-listed Orient Express Hotels,in which Tata groups Indian Hotels has over 9 per cent stake,has raised 138 million from the sale of 12 million fresh shares. The gross proceeds of the share sale along with the underwriters portion amounted to 138 million,Orient Express Hotels said in a regulatory filing to the US Security and Exchange Commission.
