Boyle: Queen volunteered for Olympics spoof

The queens star turn in the skit was considered one of the highlights of the opening ceremony last year.

Queen Elizabeth II needed no convincing to appear in a James Bond-themed skit during the opening ceremony of the London Olympics in fact,she volunteered,according to the shows director.

Director Danny Boyle says he had initially thought a lookalike 8211; possibly actress Helen Mirren 8211; would play the role of Elizabeth alongside Bond actor Daniel Craig.

He tells ITVs Jonathan Ross in an interview to air Saturday night when he sought permission to film the skit,he heard back that not only was video a go,but the Queen herself wanted to be in it.
