Theres only one month to go before the Lakme Fashion Week LFW kicks off in Mumbai, but grand finale designer Malini Ramani hardly looks overworked. Instead, shes off to Bali. Business or pleasure? A bit of both, she laughs,Call it a mini-vacation,but Im also going there to get some more ideas.

Her theme for LFWs Grand Finale this season is Gypsy. Its a great theme to be working on. Ive drawn inspiration from their lovely clothes, the colours, the ornaments, their beautiful caravans and, more than anything else, their journeys, says the designer.

Most people associate Ramani with resort-wear and she is quick to point out that her repertoire includes more cocktail dresses and evening wear not that she minds being labelled a resort wear designer. I like resort wear,so its not unjustified, she says.

At her last show at LFW,Ramani took the audience on a trip around the world with a collection that wove through Mexico,Cote DAzure,Pushkar,Zanzibar and finally fetched up in Mumbai. With travelling being a strong motif again this year, does she worry about repeating herself? Not at all, she says,Isnt each journey different from the previous one?
