BJP to give Modi several backroom campaign teams

A month after the Gujarat Chief Minister was anointed as the partys chief campaigner, the BJP Parliamentary Board

A month after the Gujarat Chief Minister was anointed as the partys chief campaigner, the BJP Parliamentary Board on Monday authorised party president Rajnath Singh and Narendra Modi to go ahead with the plans by constituting different sub-committees to execute the various aspects of his campaign strategy.

We are ready for snap polls. We have a two-pronged strategy comprising election rallies across the country and organisational strategy to reach out till the booth level. For this purpose, there will be different committees to look after different aspects like publicity literature, political chargesheet against the government, manifesto, conference of partys Lok Sabha election workers. Singh and Modi have been authorised to constitute them. These committees will be for executing the election campaign strategy, party leader Ananth Kumar briefed reporters after the meeting.

He added that both will consult other members of the Parliamentary Board regarding to composition of these committees. Kumar asserted that all top leaders will participate in the over 100 rallies planned under the strategy.

While these committees are likely to be constituted before the BJP Parliamentary Board meets again next week,Modi has not indicated to party leadership to constitute a separate election campaign committee, top BJP sources claimed. So far,he has decided to work with party general secretaries and members of partys programme implementation and coordination committee. Members of these sub-committees will be drawn from this pool while some others may be co-opted for their expertise. The very fact that he is keeping the Parliamentary Board in loop is self evident that he wants to take everyone from the top brass along, confided a party functionary.

Notwithstanding recent remarks by BJP leaders regarding Article 370 and Ram Temple, party leaders on Monday indicated that these will be only manifesto issues while the party will pursue the issues of good governance and development as its election agenda. It was decided that we will contest elections on the issue of good governance and development. We will make them an electoral issue at the national level because the Congress is not ready to face the public on these counts, Kumar said.
