BJP plans stir over price rise

The BJP would take to the streets to protest against price rise and stage a demonstration outside Parliament in the second week of March.

The BJP would take to the streets to protest against price rise and stage a demonstration outside Parliament in the second week of March. This will be preceded by protests over the issue in various districts across the country in mid-January and February.

The party has also decided to hold its national executive meet in Indore on February 17,followed by a two-day national council meet on February 18 and 19.

The decisions were taken at the BJP office-bearers meet held on Thursday and presided over by party president Nitin Gadkari.

Gadkari,who will be formally elected party president on February 10,will have his own team of office bearers once the Indore meet ratifies his election.

Party spokesperson Ravi Shankar Prasad,at a press conference held after the office bearers meet,said the BJP Parliamentary Party chairman L K Advani,in his intervention,praised the Oppositions role in both Houses and said that Gadkaris appointment had ushered hope in the party.

In his inaugural speech,Gadkari stressed on openness and informality amongst party leaders.

The meet also lambasted the UPA government on its soft approach on terror and cited the recent escape of three terrorists in the capital to drive home the point.
