Bhatta-Parsaul: SC panel for CBI probe

I will recommend a CBI probe into the incident.

The National Commission for Scheduled Castes NCSC has demanded a CBI probe into the alleged atrocities committed on the Scheduled Caste residents of Bhatta-Parsaul during police action against villagers who were protesting against land acquisition. A NCSC team led by Chairman P L Punia visited Bhatta-Parsaul and neighbouring Achhepur to investigate the alleged atrocities committed against the SC community there.

I will recommend a CBI probe into the incident. We have recorded statements of several Dalit families who have said that atrocities were committed against them by policemen and district administration officials. There is a need to independently investigate and verify the charges. If found correct, the policemen and district administration officials will be booked under the SC Act, Punia said.

The NCSC and National Human Rights Commission teams will record the statements of the villagers affected by alleged atrocities.
