The Congress Saturday held protests against the Samajwadi Party government in Uttar Pradesh, making it clear that irrespective of the arrangement at the Centre,in the state, the two parties were opponents. Simultaneous protests at all district offices of the party had been called on Saturday by the new Congress state president,Nirmal Khatri.
Still smarting from the controversy following his remarks against Mulayam,Union Steel Minister Beni Prasad Verma avoided direct mention of the SP chief in his speech, but left no one in doubt whom he meant as he attacked the the party.
From Samajwadis, they the SP have become parivarvadis8230; Those who just think about their family can never be samajwadis socialists, the minister said.
Talking about SP cadres burning his effigies over his remarks against Mulayam,Beni said he had a message for them: I will be in active politics for 20 more years and will not leave this Earth till the reins of the nation are handed over to Rahul Gandhi.
