The West Bengal Government has finalised a 1200-acre plot at Barrackpore near Kolkata for the National Security Guards (NSG) hub proposed by the Centre in four metropolitan cities after the Mumbai terror attacks.

While the names of Kolkata and Mumbai have already been finalised,the Centre is yet to decide on the two other cities.

An NSG team will reach Kolkata next week for a recce of the site. State Home Secretary Ardhendu Sen confirmed that the team was likely to arrive next week.

“We will start our construction work as soon as we get land from the state government,” Col H S Pathania,NSG’s Chief of Operations had earlier told The Indian Express.
