Axis Communications, which makes network digital video surveillance cameras, today launched its Axis Camera Companion solution for small and medium businesses (SMBs). To tap the domestic network digital surveillance market, pegged at about USD 64.9 million, the company plans to expand footprint in India and hire more people. "ACC is an entry-level IP video solution for small installations. The system is designed for systems from 1-16 cameras," Axis Communications Country Manager India Sughindra Holla told reporters here. This solution uses HDTV camera network cameras, helping users to clearly identify intruders or shoplifters. Videos can be viewed live and recordings can also be played remotely over the Internet. It supports motion detection and pan/tilt/zoom controls. The camera are powered over the network, eliminating the need for power cables. The images are recorded onto a memory card in each camera. "The recording continues even if the network fails. This reduces cost, simplifies installation and makes the system more robust," he added. On company's expected growth in the Indian market,Holla declined to give any figures but said,"This year,we will grow more than 30 per cent over the last year." Holla added that they also be hiring in India but not on a large scale as they are involved in "indirect selling" and do not require a big workforce.
