Australian stocks resumed their upward climb on Tuesday,gaining for the fifth time in six sessions as financial firms benefited from fresh optimism about the global economic recovery.
The benchmark Samp;P/ASX 200 index rose 44.6 points or 0.9 per cent to 4,874.8,according to latest available data. The index snapped a four-day winning streak on Monday,falling 0.9 per cent.
New Zealand8217;s benchmark NZX 50 index finished down 0.2 per cent to 3,228.4.
