Vijay Palande, the main accused in the Arun Tikku and Karan Kakad murder cases, had allegedly drugged Tikkus son Anuj and got him to write a suicide note that was kept aside for future use, sources in the Mumbai Police Crime Branch alleged on Monday.
The Crime Branch apparently recovered the suicide note a few days ago,and claimed that Palande intended to kill Anuj at a Chiplun farmhouse the same day his aides murdered Tikku in Lokhandwala. However, the plan was foiled as police learnt of Palandes involvement in Tikkus murder and tracked down Anuj in time, said officers.
A few days ago,we recovered a suicide note that Palande had got Tikkus son Anuj to write. In the note,Anuj wrote that he was unhappy and fed-up with his life and wanted to end it. He also wrote that nobody should be held responsible for his death. Interrogations revealed that Palande drugged Anuj and got him to write this note well in advance. It was seized by us from Palandes bank locker, said a senior Crime Branch officer, who did not wish to be named.
According to the police,on April 6,when Tikku was murdered at his sons Lokhandwala apartment by Dhananjay Shinde and Manoj Gajkosh they have been arrested Palande had driven Anuj to a farmhouse in Chiplun on the pretext of taking him to a casino in Goa.
Palande intended to kill Anuj at the farmhouse in Chiplun and leave the suicide note near the body to project the murder as suicide. However, his plan was thwarted after we found out the identities of the accused involved in Arun Tikkus murder and tracked them down, said the officer.
Crime Branch officers had earlier stated that after Anuj returned to the city from a trip to Delhi,Palande had learnt that Tikku owned properties worth Rs 50 crore in Mumbai,Delhi and Gurgaon, which he had left to his son in a will.
Palandes plan was to hoodwink Anuj and take over all these properties from him in course of time, the officers had said.
