Another attack on train in Assam,two cops killed

Two persons,both Special Assam Police Officers SPOs,were killed and an Assam Police jawan was seriously injured when militants belonging to the outlawed Dima Halam Daoga DHDJ carried out yet another attack,this time on a goods train in the strife-torn North Cachar Hills district of Assam on Saturday.

On Friday,the same group had killed one person and injured at least 12 when it attacked a passenger train in the Lumding-Badarpur metre gauge hill section in the NC Hills. The Saturday8217;s incident occurred between Langting and Dijaobra railway stations at around 7.30 am.

The Northeast Frontier Railway NFR spokesman Situsing Hajong said the Railways had cancelled all trains in the Haflong-Badarpur portion of the hill section following the renewed attack.

The NC Hills together with adjoining Karbi Anglong district constitute the Autonomous ST Lok Sabha constituency that goes to the polls on April 16. On Thursday,the DHDJ militants had also attacked a central election observer near Haflong in the NC Hills district.
