As his fast entered the seventh day today,Anna Hazares camp said on Monday that they were ready to discuss the Jan Lokpal Bill if Prime Minister Manmohan Singh sent a representative,but maintained that the government hadnt formally proposed any talks yet.
However,government sources said their mediators were engaged in negotiations with Hazare.
Hazares aide Kiran Bedi on Monday quoted the activist as saying: Let the government come forward to discuss the Jan Lokpal Bill. Let the Prime Minister send his representatives. She also tweeted that talks of negotiations between the activist and the government were just rumours.
Her colleague Arvind Kejriwal too maintained that the government hadnt yet proposed any talks. The Prime Minister tells you people media that they are ready for talks. But we are asking again and again where do we come? Whom do we meet? Until we dont have a concrete proposal,we cannot react to it, he said.
Government sources said Maharashtra Additional Chief Secretary U C Sarangi,who has mediated with Hazare on his earlier hunger strikes,met the activist against on Monday,the third such meeting since Saturday evening.
Spiritual leader Bhaiyyu Maharaj,who has also emerged as a mediator,said on Monday the government was trying really hard to find a solution.
I can tell you the government is trying really hard. I am not supporting or favouring anybody but intentions of both sides are very clear, he said.
Meanwhile,Hazares aides expressed concern about his health. His weight has come down to 67 kilograms from 72 kilograms. His blood pressure is 130/80 and pulse rate 90. Doctors say his health is okay but we are worried, said Manish Sisodia.
