The hearing on the bail application of Amit Shah,former Minister of State for Home arrested in connection with the Sohrabuddin Sheikh fake encounter case,has been adjourned till August 17.

The bail application was scheduled for hearing on Wednesday.

However,when the case came up for hearing in the special CBI court,Shah8217;s lawyer requested adjournment in the matter citing unavailability of their senior counsel Ram Jethmalani.

Shah8217;s lawyer told the court that he had informed the CBI about Jethmalani8217;s absence in advance and that it did not raise any objection. Following this,the hearing on the bail application was deferred to August 17.

In his bail application,Shah has termed all the allegations levelled against him in the case as false and fabricated. He has stated that the Congress was using the CBI against him with a specific political agenda.

Meanwhile,the apex court will take up on Thursday the status report filed by the CBI in the Sohrabuddin case. The CBI had on July 30 filed the status report in a on its six-month-old investigation in the case.
