Weeks after Nagarkurnool Congress MP Dr Manda Jagannath slapped a bank staffer,Dr P Shankar Rao,a Congress MLA from Secunderabad Cantonment,was caught on camera slapping an employee of a supermarket in Bowenpally area of Secunderabad. The footage shows Rao,who was making a surprise inspection of the superstores godown,raising his hand,but not actually slapping the employee. I was inspecting the godown and this employee tried to prevent me from entering a particular area. I simply laid my hands on his shoulders and moved him out of my way, said the three-time MLA,who was deputy leader of Opposition during the TDP rule. I will quit politics if anyone can prove that I slapped the employee, Rao said.

On July 23,Rao had allegedly threatened an employee of the Cantonment Board and filed a case against him under SC,ST Atrocities Prevention Act after an altercation over including names in the Cantonment voters list for the forthcoming civic elections. Board employees are wearing black bands to register their protest against Rao.
