The Advertising Standards Council of India ASCI has upheld a complaint of the Consumer Education and Research Society CERS against advertisements of Morning Walker exercise equipment. ASCI has concluded that claims made in the ads are false and misleading. It has asked the company to apologise to consumers and return money to the unsatisfied ones.

Morning Walker is a product of Kolkata-based Spaceage Multiproducts. The advertisements claim a 15-minute use can protect the user against numerous diseases.

CERS said the company falsely claimed the machine had been endorsed by Indian Medical Association IMA,verified by National Institute of Orthopaedically Handicapped NIOH,tried on over 4,000 patients by the All India Institute of Medical Sciences AIIMS,Delhi, and certified by Kolkata Medical College.

While IMA has denied that it endorsed the machine, information provided under RTI by AIIMS,NIOH,and Kolkata Medical College suggests the companys claim was baseless.
