AAP won’t join hands with ‘corrupt’ CPM,says Bhushan

Speculation has been rife about a possible alliance of AAP and Left parties since Bhushans meeting with former Kerala CM.

Senior Aam Aadmi Party leader Prashant Bhushan on Wednesday said his party will have no truck with the CPM as corruption has seeped into its rank and file. He,however,did not rule out alliance with smaller Left parties.

It is not possible for AAP to ally with the CPM. Corruption has seeped into its ranks. The party is no longer in line with the core principles of AAP. The matter has never been formally discussed in our national executive but we have seen in the past how Left governments have functioned in states like West Bengal, Bhushan told The Indian Express.

We may ally with some smaller Left parties but that is still a long way off. If they approach us,the matter will have to be examined by the (AAP) national executive, he added.

Speculation has been rife about a possible alliance of AAP and Left parties since Bhushans meeting with former Kerala CM and CPM leader V S Achuthanandan. Though Bhushan refused to answer any question about the meeting,sources in the AAP said he had sought the former CMs support and guidance and not an alliance. The two are also said to have discussed the strategy against Kerala CM Oommen Chandy on the issue of solar panel scam.

CPM leader Sitaram Yechury,meanwhile,did not rule out the possibility of aligning with the AAP and said his party is making efforts to stitch together a non-Congress,non-BJP political front of which AAP could be a part.

CPM general secretary Prakash Karat refused to comment,saying his views will appear in an article in the partys mouthpiece on Thursday.
