
Buoyed by its performance in the Delhi Assembly elections,the Aam Aadmi Party AAP has the Lok Sabha elections in its sights.
Party leaders maintain that AAP has received an overwhelming response across the country,with state party unit ranks swelling by the day.
Even though expenditure on Lok Sabha polls has not been determined,the partys fund-raising campaign is in full swing. Following the Delhi elections,the party has already collected Rs 11,133,518.
Moreover,efforts are being made to identify candidates for the Lok Sabha polls. We have invited applications for candidates for Lok Sabha elections. From former bureaucrats to social activists and even some politicians want to join the AAP, Vaghela said.
According to AAP leaders,the party has units in 22 states. Out of the 22 state units,nearly 12 states 8211; like Maharashtra,Gujarat and Uttar Pradesh 8211; are quite strong. We are working on strengthening the other units, Waghela added.
With volunteers being the partys backbone,internship drives have been launched by the party in Maharashtra and Rajasthan. An internship opportunity in the party is being offered to encourage the youth to volunteer for us. Depending on their skills,the volunteers roles will be defined and put under various departments 8211; campaigning teams,buzz teams,media management,etc, T N Panchapakesan,another member of AAPs National Executive said.
For the Lok Sabha elections,party members said the model adopted by the party in Delhi will be replicated at the national level.
