4 Maoists killed in Jharkhand encounter

Four cadres belonging to the CPIMaoist were killed and a CISF personnel injured early during an encounter in Chatra district of Jharkhand,the police said

Four cadres belonging to the CPIMaoist were killed and a CISF personnel injured early on Monday during an encounter in Chatra district of Jharkhand,the police said.

While two bodies were recovered by the security forces,two others were believed to have been taken away by the rebels,as per IG R K Mallick. The rebels often take away their dead or injured cadres during retreat,he said. The two Maoists whose bodies have been found are Tapeshwar Gahjhu from Latehar and Anil Ram from Palamau district.

The incident occurred between 12 and 3 am last night when about 50 Maoists attacked Ashoka Project,a coal mine of the Central Coal Field at Piparwar in Chatra district. They set afire three dumpers and a pay loader,and fled after a strong retaliatory firing by the CISF. Chatra SP Anoop Birtharay said,One CISF jawan suffered minor injury on his leg.

The police recovered one semi-automatic rifle,a regular rifle,300 live cartridges,one walky-talky,and a powerful can bomb from the place where the security forces found the two bodies of the Maoists.
