3 killed in attack at RJD MPs house

The MP,who was in Siwan,did not deny political rivalry behind the attack and also alleged security lapse.

Three persons lost their lives on Wednesday afternoon when five unidentified assailants attacked them with highly sophisticated weapons at the Chhapra house of RJDs Maharajganj MP Umashankar Singh,who was not at home during the incident.

The MP,who was in Siwan,did not deny political rivalry behind the attack and also alleged security lapse. Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has asked Director General of Police Neelmani to look into the matter.

The incident took place around 3.15 pm when the five assailants,riding on two bikes,reached Singhs house and attacked those present there. Devendra Singh,a village headman,Manibhushan Singh,a contractor,and his driver Dinesh Roy,who had come to meet the MP were killed. The police said the attackers used AK-47 rifles.

Singh said he had approached the state government for more security but did not get any response. Area DIG Sunil Kumar,however,said four guards armed with carbines were always with the MP.

The CM said: We have taken the incident seriously and asked the DGP to conduct a thorough probe,looking at all possible intentions behind the attack.

Singh had defeated his archrival and former JD-U MP Prabhunath Singh he later joined RJD by a close margin in the 2010 Lok Sabha elections.
