2G scam: ED complains against Unitech for FEMA violation

The Enforcement Directorate has filed a complaint against Unitech Wireless for FEMA violation of Rs 63 crore in connection with the 2G spectrum scam.

The Enforcement Directorate has filed a complaint against Unitech Wireless for FEMA (Foreign Exchange Management Act) violation of Rs 63 crore in connection with the 2G spectrum scam.

The complaint was filed by assistant director of ED Rajeshwar Singh before the special director of ED on Wednesday.

The agency said once the matter was placed before the special director,he would issue a show-cause notice to the telecom major and the fine could go upto three times of the amount. Apart from violating the FEMA guidelines,the Unitech Wireless is accused of not issuing certain shares. In July this year,the ED issued show-cause notices to Etisalat DB and its director for FEMA violation of Rs 7,260.05 crore.
