The anti-land grab cell of the Chennai police on Friday arrested a woman director of a private company and a property agent for allegedly cheating and intimidating a charitable trust into selling land that is now valued at Rs 155 crore. Police commissioner S George received a complaint Tuesday that nearly 50,000 sq ft of land in the heart of the city belonging to Addepallikandaswamy Chetty and Chenchu Venkatasubbu Guruvajamma Charities Association since 1915 was sold to Orchid Foundation Private Limited in 2006 under coercion. After the anti-land grab cell of the crime branch began investigations,Uma Maheswari and Dr D Sujai Anand were arrested.
