Mahendra Singh Dhoni is no doubt a disappointed man with India, specially the bowlers, letting the match slip away here today.
“We could have bowled better. The line should have been on or around the off-stump,” 26-year-old Dhoni told reporters after the match.
He said dew was also a factor which did not help the cause of bowlers, especially part-timers bowling in the second innings under lights.
He said he felt that India should have scored around 340 runs the way they had had a solid start. “We could not capitalise as much. I thought my, Robin (Uthappa’s) and Yuvraj Singh’s wickets fell in quick succession which was also the reason why we did not get the target we were aiming for,” he said.
Dhoni said that Pakistan vice captain Younis Khan, who scored 117, had played a sheet anchor’s role. On Sachin Tendulkar’s innings of 99, he said it was yet another “fantastic knock.”
He said bowlers have to adapt to the rule of ball change at the end of 34 overs. “The rule helps teams chase down big totals to some extent, but the bowlers are adapting to this. Bowlers need to adapt faster,” he said.
