A day after two more Shiv Sena MLAs left the party to join the Congress, the Sena today made fresh overtures towards the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) for forging an alliance.
Claiming such an alliance would help the NCP get an edge over the Congress, party executive president Uddhav Thackeray said he had made the first move and the ball was now in the NCP’s court.
In an editorial in Sena mouthpiece Saamna on Saturday, Uddhav has written: ‘‘I want political realignment in the state and expect an alliance with the NCP.’’
Saying that the BJP was with the Sena, he stressed NCP should make its stance clear. ‘‘The future of the alliance doesn’t only depend on the Sena. The BJP is with us. I won’t indulge in any covert activities. Let everything be very open,’’ he has stated in Saamna.
