WCC-30 weightlifters excel

Out of seven weight categories held, there was a close fight for the gold in the 94kg group. Both Surinder Singh and Vikram, who were first and second, respectively, were neck and neck till the third attempt. But Surinder, who failed to go beyond 115kg in snatch, lifted 157.5kg in clean and jerk in his last attempt, which increased his total to 272.5kg.

While Vikram, who lifted 7.5kg less than the winner to grab the silver, lifted 117.5kg in snatch but failed to lift more than 147.5kg in clean and jerk.

Bronze went to Satwinder Singh, who lifted 180kg.
