The state Government on Sunday gave a clean chit to DIG, CRPF, Alok Raj, against whom a complaint of molestation was lodged at the Nandigram police station on May 11, during the first phase of the panchayat elections. While a complaint of molestation was filed against the CRPF officer, a few CRPF women constables had also filed complaints of molestation and harassment against the local police.
The state Government had appointed Rakesh Gupta, IG, Western Range, to investigate into the complaints. Gupta submitted his report last week.
8220;No charges of molestation have been proved. In fact, charges of molestation are often lodged against each other by law enforcement agencies and it is a dangerous trend. This should be stopped immediately. And another thing, we will have to get along well with everybody,8221; said Home Secretary Asok Mohan Chakrabarti.
The CRPF DIG expressed his happiness over this clean chit by the state Government.
8220;I feel happy that I was absolved of the charge. It was filed to frame me. But I knew I was innocent. And now that belief has been vindicated,8221; Aloke Raj said.
