A bailable warrant for Rs 5,000 was issued against Subhashchandra Goel, CEO of Zee Network, on September 9, for not appearing before the court on nine successive occasions between June 3 and September 9, 2000, according to an order passed by the Judicial Magistrate (Thane).
The Motion Pictures Producers Association filed a case against Goel when he broke the Copyright Law by telecasting the film, Jaan Hatheli Pe, on June 3. Counsel for defence has been seeking permanent exemption for Goel from appearing in the court. However, the application has been rejected.
