Wall collapse in Ghatkopar injures three

A wall collapsed in Ghatkopar on Wednesday afternoon, injuring three persons of a family. The incident occurred at 2 pm when a wall of the house close to a retaining wall of a nullah crashed.

The structure was located in Bhatt Rajaram bhaiyya chawl near Navyuvak krida mandal in Sanjay Kokate. Injured Shakuntala Mhatre 55, Nilesh Mhatre 56 and Sandesh Mhatre 18 were taken to Rajawadi hospital and were discharged immediately. Civic officials said that the house was touching the retaining wall of the nullah and part of the wall was weakened due to the incessant rainfall in the last three days. The house is an old structure and its walls were weakened.

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation has ordered a probe into the collapse.
