Vyas asks GEB to clarify circular

VADODARA, May 20: Mayor Bharati Vyas has called upon the Gujarat Electricity Board GEB to remove a discrepancy in norms for giving single phase connections to slum units.

While a recent circular in English by the Board did not mention that legality of the slum unit should be checked, another letter in Gujarati specifically stressed that the legality needed to be verified.

Vyas said on Thursday that she already had a word with H Halari superintending engineer city of the GEB. According to her, the clause of checking the legality created confusion among the offices concerned and hence slum-dwellers had difficulty in getting through the applications.
