
MUMBAI, May 12: Parag Vora PMHB was the cynosure of all eyes in the opening match of Pool A in the P M Hindu Bath All-India Invitational water polo tournament. Vora slammed five goals in the host team8217;s facile 9-3 victory over a young and spirited Bengal B team.
The PMHB forwards took time to find their bearings and the youngsters from Calcutta did well to level the scores 1-1 at the end of the first quarter. Thereafter the star-studded PMHB team combined beautifully to quell the challenge of the enthusiastic lads from Calcutta.
Vora enthralled the goodly crowd with an exhibition of fast breaks and breathtakingly accurate shooting. Though the scoreline read 9-3 in favour of PMHB. The Bengal B team was far from disgraced. In fact, they gladdened the hearts of the connoisseurs with their clean and attacking brand of water polo. Vora was deservingly adjudged most valuable player of the match.
The Bengal A team swamped Gujarat 16-0 in another Pool A match. Achintya Majumdar led the goal glut with a tallyof four goals. Deccan Gymkhana Pune scored a facile 7-2 victory over Rest of Maharashtra in a Pool B encounter.
