VADODARA, July 27: Chambers of Mayor, Deputy Mayor and Standing Committee chairman of the Vadodara Municipal Corporation VMC are in for a face-lift.

Sources told Express Newsline on Monday that Rahul Dalvi, a city-based architect, was asked to submit a plan to revamp the chambers. The report is likely to be submitted in the next few days.

Renovations might cost nearly Rs 50,000 and are expected to be carried out department-wise. The idea is to bring together chambers of all the three officials. At present, the Standing Committee chairman8217;s room is several meters away from the chambers of the Mayor and Deputy Mayor.

Although the planning is in initial stages, the officials intend to convert the two committee rooms adjoining the chairman8217;s room into the Mayor and Deputy Mayor8217;s chamber.

The Committee rooms are likely to be shifted in place of the Mayor and Deputy Mayor8217;s chambers.

Also, likely to come up is the ante-room in the Mayor8217;s chamber. Former Mayor Ratilal Desai had converted it into a room for his personal assistant saying that a separate room was not required as he had nothing private8221; to talk. He had also made arrangements for the visitors to sit there.

Sources said in the changed set up, the Mayor8217;s room would also have an attached toilet. Meanwhile, on Monday Deputy Mayor Dinesh Chokshi converted his ante-room into personal assistant-cum-visitors8217; room.
